Financial knowledge at your fingertips
While many of our customers use their smiONE Card to receive child support or other government payments, your smiONE Card account is a great place to keep and track all of your funds! When it comes to your money, we always prioritize security and convenience. And, adding funds to your smiONE Card account has never been easier or more secure. With convenient options to suit all your needs, you can skip the hoop jumping you may be used to with traditional banks* and opt for ease and peace of mind with smiONE.
*smiONE is a financial technology company, not a bank. Banking services are provided by The Bancorp Bank, N.A., Member FDIC. The Platinum smiONE™ Visa® Prepaid Card is issued by The Bancorp Bank, N.A., pursuant to a license from Visa U.S.A., Inc. and may be used everywhere Visa debit cards are accepted.
Loading funds essentially means adding funds. Your smiONE Card is a reloadable prepaid card. With prepaid cards, you can spend up to the amount of money loaded on the card. Because your smiONE Card is also reloadable, you can load additional funds to spend at your discretion.
smiONE customers have vastly different lifestyles and priorities, so we made sure you have a number of options to add funds to your smiONE Card account. Read on to learn more about using direct deposit, Visa® ReadyLink, mobile check load1, and card-to-card transfers to load funds.
Direct deposit allows your employers and other payers to deposit funds directly into your smiONE Card account. To set this up, you’ll need to provide your payer with your account and routing numbers. Generally, when you start a new job that offers direct deposit, you’ll probably be asked to enter these details in a secure form or portal. To find your account details in the smiONE mobile app or online account center, navigate to the “Manage” tab and select “Direct Deposit.”
Sometimes, though, your payer may not have their own direct deposit enrollment form. Not to worry, you can generate your own enrollment form with smiONE! Simply navigate to the “Manage” tab in your mobile app or online account center, select “Direct Deposit,” and click the button to download your form.
To load cash onto your smiONE Card account, visit any of the 60,000 Visa ReadyLink merchants, including Walgreens, Walmart, and Family Dollar. To find a merchant nearest you, log in to your smiONE Card account in the mobile app or online account center and select “Load Cash” from the Quick Links menu, or visit https://www.visa.com/locator/readylink.
Go to any cashier and tell them you’d like to add money to your prepaid card account. Swipe your card at the terminal and enter the amount you’d like to load. (Tip: Visa ReadyLink merchants may charge their own fees for each transaction, so it’s important to ask about the fee before initiating your load.) Give the total cash amount to the cashier, and your money will be available within 30 minutes.
The smiONE mobile app makes loading checks quick and easy. Mobile check load allows you to simply attach images of your checks to deposit them. To use this feature, log in to your smiONE Card account in the mobile app and select “Deposit a Check” from the Quick Links Menu. From there, you’ll be taken to our partner, Ingo’s, platform. You’ll then be asked to take and supply images of the front and back of your check (don’t forget to endorse it!). You may be given options to either load the funds immediately for a small fee or have the funds hit your Card account in a few days to avoid the expedited fee.
Card-to-card transfers allow you to transfer funds between multiple smiONE Cards. For example, if you or a family member have secondary cards for authorized users connected to your primary smiONE Card account, you can easily transfer funds between those smiONE Cards. To begin a transfer, log in to your smiONE Card account online or in the mobile app and select “Transfer Funds” from the Quick Links Menu, or visit https://cardholderweb.smionecard.com/new/smione/manage/transferfunds. You’ll be prompted to input a recipient, an amount, and you may choose to attach a message to the transfer. Be sure to check your Cardholder Agreement for any transfer limits or other important disclosures related to this feature.
